Beautiful doesn't seem to cut it with My Mother's Quilt: Devotions of Love, Legacy, Family and Faith by Ramona Richards.  It is so much more.  First off, the presentation: hardback, burgundy linen cover with a dust jacket and colored pages in a fairly thick weight, it is something special. It's one those books you'll want to leave by your bedside or your favorite chair.  When you want to read it, you'll be curling up with a quilt or throw, your Bible and this book right on your lap. A great read even if you're not using as your daily devotional.

Now, as to the content, Ramona has blessed us with her thoughts, and her family's legacy. Each one ties in with a quilt, starting off with a scripture for us to dwell on.  Through the quilts we read stories, happy memories, as well as sad ones, but in the end, just like in each devotion, a prayer to our Almighty God, giving us peace and strength.  This is different because it's not only a devotion, but also one family's legacy to us, and thoughts and prayers that join in.  As someone who enjoys sewing, I'm encouraged to see beyond the craft, but the meaning of it, along with a desire to fulfill my dream of making a quilt myself one day. Maybe I will.

Choosing my Bible to work around migraine

How did you choose your current Bible? Is this your first Bible?  I'll get into how I chose my current Bible, at least my main one. First, I would like to explain why I needed a new one. It all started with my determination to focus on reading the Bible if that's the only reading (and accomplishment) I get done in the day.  Since my migraine became chronic, reading had become unbearable for a variety of reasons associated with the symptoms.  This includes reading the Word, let alone studying it. In truth, there was a huge spiritual warfare going on during the time. That's another focus for another day.  My Bible has been with me for years.
