I read The Last Woman Standing by Thelma Adams and came away with the realization that we need to separate what historical fiction is versus a historical romance. This is not historical fiction. It just so happens to be a story set in a time that is part of history, but the main focus is the romance.  Josephine, "Sadie" is unlikable and downright crude. The first person narrative usually allows readers to relate and feel for the character.  Unfortunately, in this case, I can't. I find Sadie in many ways stubborn and ill-mannered with her head filled with vain notions of romance, and pursuing it all in the wrong way.   True, the setting and implied reasons for the actual famous OK Corral shooting seems intriguing enough, if you're into Westerns.  However, the plot throughout did not move, giving readers an unceremonious conclusion.

 The Last Woman Standing is in the perspective of Sadie, yet, her biased and often times vulgar thoughts, actions and words doesn't bode well with me. With a stagnant plot and lack of character development, I'm disappointed that I walked away underwhelmed.


For my clean readers, there are profanity and intimacy in this novel.

Choosing my Bible to work around migraine

How did you choose your current Bible? Is this your first Bible?  I'll get into how I chose my current Bible, at least my main one. First, I would like to explain why I needed a new one. It all started with my determination to focus on reading the Bible if that's the only reading (and accomplishment) I get done in the day.  Since my migraine became chronic, reading had become unbearable for a variety of reasons associated with the symptoms.  This includes reading the Word, let alone studying it. In truth, there was a huge spiritual warfare going on during the time. That's another focus for another day.  My Bible has been with me for years.
