Fun & Writing with V.Joy Palmer, author of Love, Lace and Minor Alterations
Just Commonly welcome authors to drop by and share with us their take on a book that embodies a predetermined Word of the Month! For the full year of 2017, every Monday at 7:00 AM EST, a new post by a new author will be live!
Thank you, Joy! Coming from you, I'll need to look into this series for sure!
Isabel Izze Vez, bridal consultant extraordinaire, has been helping brides find their perfect wedding gowns for years. All the happy endings are starting to grate on her. How many wedding dresses does Izze have to help other brides find before she actually gets to wear one herself? After experiencing a failed romance several years earlier, Izze begins barraging God: When will it be her turn?
When James Miles Clayton walks into her life, a fragile relationship is formed, but will their rocky start and a misunderstanding at work destroy everything? More importantly, will Izze let go of her shattered dreams, and trust God for a beautiful future?

I love that this month's word is "FUN" and this week's author is such a good author in representation of the word. V.Joy Palmer's debut novel, Love, Lace and Minor Alterations is a perfect example of fun reading, fun writing and fun all around! Don't believe me? Check out my review of the book HERE. "This was a little hard for me. I’m the kind of person who recommends four or five different books at a time. But the more I thought about it, the more I knew it had to be Match Point by Erynn Mangum, Book Three in the Lauren Holbrook Series. Yeah, the third book. *grins sheepishly*
Fun is so inadequate of a word to describe Match Point! Quirky characters, matchmaking, and a main character with a coffee addiction the literary world has never seen the likes of before or since. Match Point also awakened new life in me as a writer and is the reason I started writing romantic comedy. Before reading this, I had been bouncing from genre to genre. After reading this, everything within my soul cried out, “This! I want to write stories like this!” Erynn Mangum showed me how fun writing could be! And not to brag or anything, but the main character and I share the same married last name. So, yeah. It was kismet."
V. Joy Palmer is an avid blogger and is co-founder of Snack Time Devotions. She is a youth leader at her church, and loves acting crazy and drinking coffee with the teens.

When Joy isn’t urging the elves that live in her computer to write, she’s hanging out with her husband, their adorable baby girl, and their two socially awkward cats. This is her debut novel.
