Music Album Review & Giveaway: Out of the Dark by Mandisa

ALBUM:  Out of the Dark
Artist: Mandisa
Manufactured by:  Capital (CMG Label Group)
Label: Sparrow
Format:  Audio CD
Release Date:  May 19, 2017

Mandisa wrote her song “Overcomer” in 2013 to encourage her close friend Kisha, who was battling breast cancer. Mandisa really believed and prayed that God was going to heal her, but when Kisha went to be with Jesus in 2014, Mandisa’s foundation was shaken in a way she never expected. She fell into a deep pit of depression for close to 3 years, shutting out her friends, family and the rest of the world. Mandisa believes if she had kept going down that road she was on, she would not be here today… but God stepped in and lifted her out of that pit by using her close friends to communicate their love for her and God’s love for her. This album is Mandisa’s way of letting her fans into her story – it’s called 'Out Of The Dark' because that is exactly where God lifted her out of!

You can watch her talk openly about this on Good Morning America last week HERE

Story Behind The Album

My Thoughts

Beautiful, emotional and sinks into your soul, Out of the Dark music album by Mandisa will take you on an emotional journey. It will inspire you to rise out of the darkness, and let HIM guide you. When music speaks to you, when the melody, the words and the message just envelopes your mind and heart, that's what makes it great.  Almost all of the songs in the Out of the Dark spoke loud and clear, at least it spoke to me of Mandisa's experience with depression, and how she, with God's guidance pulled out of it. I hope that when you listen to these songs, feel Mandisa's feelings and passion. That voicemail intro reminded me that I have family and friends that love me just the same. We will find light in the darkness.

Enjoy this acoustic version.

  4. Lucy, I'll be praying for your son. I'm sorry, I don't know the right words or what to say. But I trust God will take care of him. Mandisa's testimony on this album really spoke loud to those who are in that dark place. Maybe share her story with him?
