The Adventures of Rooney Cruz is a great series for young girls to learn about female characters in the Bible and the "superpower" they have.  I love that girls can relate to the story and to these Biblical characters in the modern sense, giving them a way to find strength in themselves and in God.  The concept of being h.e.a.r.d, taken from Exodus 28:35, "The sounds of the bells will be heard," brings forth 5 characters in the Bible that demonstrates 5 different traits, and each characters' names begins with a letter in the word heard.


In book 4, we have Ruth, one of my favorite Bible stories. Ruth is The Belle of Loyalty. I really enjoyed this one. I think as we strive to listen to God, our own feelings, including thoughts of betrayal and anger gets in the way. That is the case with Rooney in this chapter of her life. Things may not turn out the way we want, and how could they when we're talking about when we're in primary or middle school? For kids, things can get very dramatic very soon, but I think instilling kids with the special powers God gave us, it will be a great start in managing their emotions.

Also, Bible Belles started a devotional for each book, which will be a great way to discuss topics of the books with your girls.

Choosing my Bible to work around migraine

How did you choose your current Bible? Is this your first Bible?  I'll get into how I chose my current Bible, at least my main one. First, I would like to explain why I needed a new one. It all started with my determination to focus on reading the Bible if that's the only reading (and accomplishment) I get done in the day.  Since my migraine became chronic, reading had become unbearable for a variety of reasons associated with the symptoms.  This includes reading the Word, let alone studying it. In truth, there was a huge spiritual warfare going on during the time. That's another focus for another day.  My Bible has been with me for years.
