Guest Post: That Day I Modeled for a Book Cover Photoshoot By Katelyn S. Bolds + Giveaway

OK, wait. Before we jump into Katelyn's adventure being the cover model for...wait for it, yep....wait a little bit more...drum roll please, yes, I got it. I'll stop now. Katelyn is our STAR model of one of my favorite authors, Jen Turano's latest contemporary release, Finding Margo.  Woohoo!

Katelyn and I met at this year's ACFW conference and we started chatting about, what else? Books, of course! Isn't she the coolest?!?! So without further delay, I welcome Katelyn Bolds to Just Commonly.

That Day I Modeled for a Book
Cover Photoshoot

It started out like any other day at work—coffee, computer, conference calls—except I was doing it all in six-inch stilettos while my coworker did my hair. What on earth was this life, you ask?

My five seconds of fame (or something akin to it) came when Afton Rorvik, Production Manager at Gilead Publishing, asked me if I would be interested in modelling. But not just any type of modelling—modeling for a book cover. That’s the dream.

I happened to look like the main character of the upcoming Jen Turano contemporary novel, Finding Margo.  Evidently tall, blonde, and sassy is a popular look for both web editors and rock stars.

Perhaps the best part of the process was picking Margo’s wardrobe. I chatted with Jen Turano over the phone about options. Her degree in clothing and textiles made her the fashionista for the job!

When the day of the photo-shoot came, I bustled into work with bags of clothes. Nichole Parks, Marketing Coordinator and my God-sent stylist for the day, immediately set to work on the hair I have never been able to tame myself.

We sent this harried photo to Jen as we rushed to get the hair perfect with our photographer waiting.

With guidance, I stilt-walked myself to the amp and plunked down. Margo was supposed to appear stranded by the side of the road.

Getting that perfect photo was hard. My face kept betraying amusement in the fact that I was striking rock star poses in front of my coworkers. Perhaps this is why most models are known for not having a sense of humor?

We finally got the perfect shot, but not before a lot of silly photos were taken.

We shipped off the photos to our back cover designer and waited for the magic to happen. In the end, you gotta love Photoshop!

Finding Margo releases November 14, 2016. Read the synopsis below.

International pop star Margo Hartman could use a night off. A grueling tour and overbearing entourage have sent her over the edge. It's time for this diva to disappear. And who would think to look for the superstar in a small Dutch town in Ohio?

Sheriff's deputy Brock Moore is undercover as well. He knows Margo isn't who she appears to be, but her uncanny resemblance to a local Amish woman is raising all sorts of questions... the kind that make her a target for a killer.

Both are determined to find answers, but their mutual attraction stands in the way of either of them doing it alone.

Is finding Margo the solution to Brock's problems or just the beginning...?
